Wind correction & ground speed
Find the heading to fly and your ground speed for a course, airspeed and wind.
The wind triangle
The aircraft flies through moving air, so you point the nose slightly into the wind to stay on course. The correction angle is arcsin(wind × sin(wind angle) ÷ TAS). Ground speed is what remains of your airspeed along the course after the headwind or tailwind.
East is least, west is best
To turn a true heading into a magnetic one, subtract easterly variation and add westerly variation.
