How the fuel is worked out
Fuel needed is the distance divided by how far your vehicle goes on one litre. If your car is rated in L/100 km, the calculator converts it first: 7.5 L/100 km is the same as 13.3 km per litre. The cost is the litres multiplied by the price per litre.
Where to find my car’s fuel economy
Use the fuel mileage calculator with a real fill-up for the best number. Manufacturer figures are a good starting point but usually optimistic.
