Why measure it yourself?
Official figures come from lab tests. Traffic, hills, air-con and driving style change real-world economy a lot. Measuring over two or three fill-ups gives the most reliable number.
km/L, L/100 km and MPG
km/L and MPG show how far you go on a set amount of fuel, so higher is better. L/100 km shows how much fuel you use over a set distance, so lower is better.
